The Good Manufacturing Practice Facility (GMP) is a core facility designed to be a flexible environment for the production of novel cellular therapies for first in man (phase 1) clinical trials.
The GMP facility is co-located with the CRF and Flow Cytometry core facilities on the 15th floor of the Tower Wing, Guy's Hospital. Infrastructure is now complete and qualification work is underway prior to MHRA license application. The facility will become operational during the coming year.
The facility consists of three Grade D clean rooms, one Grade D Prep Room and one Prep Support Room. The clean rooms are fully equipped and include three large Grade A isolators with in-built centrifuges and cold chambers for closed aseptic processing of cellular products using the following techniques: centrifugation, immuno-magnetic cell sorting, cell culture, viral vector use, cryopreservation and cell storage.
Please contact Chris Fisher, the GMP Manager for more information regarding the GMP facility.
